  • Porcelain Jingde zhen

  • Squat, bulbous-cylindrical form

  • Colourless glaze on cobalt-blue pigment on porcelain; with a waisted cylindrical neck, wide mouth, flat lip and recessed, flat, circular foot surrounded by a protruding, convex circular footrim; painted in underglaze-blue with a continuous design of three formalized chrysanthemum flowers around the central body with formalized, scrolling stems surrounding them , enclosed in a star-shaped panel framed by a trelliswork of lines surrounding the body, the other spaces in which are filled with further chrysanthemum flowers and other formalized floral designs, the base with a band of formalized design of blue on blue, the shoulders with further formalized flowers, the lip with five bats, the interior with the character nai on the base, the foot with the character shou both in regular script.
